If you spend even half as much time as I do noticing how other guys look (there was definitely a better way to phrase that), then you’ll probably agree with me when I say that men today tend to be in much better shape than our fathers’ generation.
Today, it seems like everyone from the leading men we see in movies to the acne-riddled kid who takes our tickets at the theater tends to have huge arms, a square jaw and less than 10 percent body fat.
For guys who want to make their look elite and join the ranks of the attractive masses, at least some degree of physical fitness is an absolute must.
The problem is that a lot of guys assume that they can’t look like the leading men they see in movies because they don’t have access to the same pricey personal trainers or fancy (and expensive) gyms that help Hollywood A-listers get in such ridiculous shape.
But if you want to look and feel your best without schlepping to the gym or shelling out big money for a membership/trainer, there’s good news.
Despite what the big gym chains would have you believe, when it comes to physical fitness, consistency trumps 12-month contracts.
While a few key pieces of at-home workout equipment can certainly help, the truth is that you don’t need to sign some cumbersome gym contract or hire a trainer to watch you workout in order to look and feel your best.
Instead, all you really need are a few good at-home workouts that will help you build strength and burn fat, and the willpower and discipline to get your ass gear.
And while that second part is entirely up to you, this post was written to help you with the first.
I did a deep dive into YouTube (I’ve had a lot of extra time on my hands recently) to round up 11 of the best at-home workout for men who want to get fit without leaving where they live.

How Men Can Get the Most of Their At-Home Workouts
As I mentioned at the top, you don’t need fancy equipment, an expensive gym membership or a (potentially even more expensive) personal trainer to get into great shape.
But there is one thing you do need, and that’s discipline.
The business writer Simon Sinek has a saying about success in business that I think applies just as equally to success in fitness:
It’s not about intensity, it’s about consistency.
Pick your favorite of the at-home men’s workouts featured above, and put it into practice. Don’t adopt some intense but unsustainable goal, like pledging to do the workout every single day for the next week.
Instead, start small and choose a frequency that’s both attainable and sustainable. For instance, you could aim to workout just three times per week. After a week of doing that, do it again.
If you build momentum by following that rotation for two weeks, you can consider bumping it up to four workouts per week the next time through.
With these 11 at-home workouts to choose from, finding one that you can work into a regular routine shouldn’t be a problem.
Build More Muscle ↓
Of course, if your goal is to add muscle to your frame, the truth is that even your newfound consistency might not get the job done.
The movie stars (and annoyingly jacked 20-somethings who work at the movie theater) don’t do a lot of exercise, they do a lot of other things right too.
If you want to add muscle to your frame and get not just stronger, but bigger, you need to nail the muscle-building details.
How do I know? Because I did it myself. In my early 20s I was a scrawny 140-pound nerd, and by my late 20s I was a brawny 180-pound, well, nerd—but a nerd with a lot more muscle.
And I’m a happy to show you how I did it. Sign up below and I’ll send you a list of six muscle-building techniques I used to build both size and strength.
