Before we break down the best bamboo underwear on the market, let’s quickly pause to acknowledge how weird it is that they make underwear out of bamboo now.
When I hear the word “bamboo,” I tend to picture panda bears munching on shoots and leaves, not boxer briefs snuggly supporting my – ahem – twig and berries, if you will.
But as outside-the-box as it may seem, bamboo might actually be the optimal fabric for underwear:
In addition to being lightweight and silky smooth, it’s also breathable, moisture-wicking and more environmentally friendly than other materials.
To help you get the most bang for your buck, in this post I’ve rounded up more than a dozen of the best pairs of mens bamboo underwear, each of which can be worn for casual, formal or even athletic activities.
(But if you’re planning a trip to the zoo anytime soon, you should probably skip the panda exhibit… just to be safe.)

b.WR Bamboo Boxers
Features:
- 4.2 Stars
- 160 Reviews
b.Wear (also known as b.WR) is one of the best bamboo underwear brands for those who want both a comfortable fit and an unburdened conscience.
In addition to being soft, breathable and moisture wicking, their bamboo undies are eco-friendly:
The manufacturing process uses three times less water than cotton underwear while requiring no pesticides or fertilizers.
b.Wr makes just about every style and type of bamboo underwear, including bamboo briefs, thongs and even classic bikinis.
But we recommend sticking with their bamboo boxer briefs, which provide full coverage and are widely regarded as the most attractive style of underwear for guys.
Promising Review:
These things are great. I really like them for working out and running. They fit perfectly – just snug enough on my legs so they don’t hike up, but not so tight that they feel like they cut off circulation (which seems to be a common problem with most other boxer briefs).
They’re also way more breathable than cotton boxer briefs – again great for working out in.
David Archy Ultra Soft Bamboo Rayon Trunks
- 4.4 Stars
- 7,219 Ratings
These boxers from David Archy are made from 95% rayon, a bamboo fiber extracted from the natural bamboo plant, with 5% spandex added in for some extra stretch.
In addition to the softness and comfort of bamboo, one of the best things about this set is that it comes in a wide range of different colors, available in packs of either four or seven.
Promising Review:
My favorite underwear. The material is soft, breathable with just the right amount of stretchiness.
They are soft as cotton underwear without cotton’s bulk or slack that happens after they are stretched a few times. The crotch pocket’s three-dimensional design fits well, and is supportive.

Chill Boys Bamboo Boxers

While the name may leave a lot to be desired, Chill Boys’ bamboo viscose underwear
Promising Review:
I bought these boxers because I needed a new pair and bamboo sounded neat. What I got was extraordinary. These boxers have changed my life. Upon opening them I felt them and it was one of the softest materials I’ve ever felt.
They are easily the most comfortable breathable boxers I have ever had and I would recommend them to anyone. LIFE CHANGING
Bamboo Cool Trunks
- 4.4 Stars
- 2,391 Ratings
Made from a blend of 92% viscose bamboo and 8% spandex, these boxer briefs from Bamboo Cool are one of the top picks for workouts and athletic activities thanks to their soft feel and breathable fabric.
They’re machine washable, and unlike a lot of cotton underwear, they maintain their size in the washing machine and won’t shrink when you pull them out of the dryer.
Promising Review:
In Florida, you are either constantly having to deal with wet underpants from sweat or rain.
I originally bought these for surf fishing, as they dry quickly, but I like these so much I am replacing all my underwear with these bamboo cools.

Zonbailon Bamboo Briefs with Comfort Pouch
- 4.6 Stars
- 1,022 Ratings
Available in either a four-pack or a six-pack, Zonbailon’s bamboo briefs are made from viscose rayon and come with a front pocket (which is not quite as pronounced as a full underwear pouch) that will cradle your boys in comfort.
It’s also worth noting that a lot of the 5-star reviews on Amazon were left by guys who are taller than 6’ and weigh 200 lbs or more.
So this might just be the best underwear for guys on the bigger side who prefer bamboo to synthetic underwear, but have trouble finding the right size.
Promising Review:
Best value for some really comfortable underwear. Way better than 2undr and Tommy John for less than half the price.
These don’t ride up, don’t have uncomfortable stitching up the side of legs, waiste band stays put, and plenty room for the boys without a gimmicky pouch that does nothing.

Youlehe Bamboo Stretch Trunks
- 4.4 Stars
- 9,378 Ratings
These briefs from Chinese manufacturer Youlehe will really stand out from the rest of your underwear drawer.
They come in a wide range of both colors and patterns, making them one of the best bamboo underwear options for guy who are tired of all-black-everything and want some different styles.
Plus, in addition to the colorful options, they also come with an affordable price tag when compared with some of the other, better known brands on this list.
Promising Review:
These Youlehe briefs are soft, fit nice and so far, the elastic waistband and overall material seems to be holding up well.
But the price makes these almost a no-brainer. I can highly recommend these briefs.
Sumaba Moisture-Wicking Boxer Briefs
- 4.7 Stars
- 952 Ratings
Sumaba advertises that their bamboo boxer briefs will keep you dry, which is accurate.
But to be fair, you could say the same about pretty much any bamboo underwear thanks to the moisture-wicking properties of bamboo fibres.
(The moisture wicking is one of the main things that makes bamboo clothing odour-resistant, and also helps you avoid the dreaded sensitive skin struggle by helping you stay dry.)
But smart marketing aside, Sumaba’s skivvies also come in a wide range of cool colors, as well as the basic black and gray that many guys prefer.
Promising Review:
These are the best underwear I’ve had in decades. Seriously. They’re super soft. They fit PERFECTLY.
They are the only underwear I’ve ever worn under my kilt that related heat well (and kept me from sweating through).
Knitlord Men’s Bamboo Briefs
- 4.6 Stars
- 2,722 Ratings
As mentioned above, we generally feel that boxer briefs or trunks provide a better fit and style, but we understand why some guys still swear by briefs.
As briefs go, we prefer the mid-to-low cut of this pair from Knitlord, which looks more stylish than the traditional high-cut briefs that are usually associated with “tighty whities.”
In addition to a lower cut, this pair also has a low environmental impact thanks to its 100% environmentally friendly raw material.
Promising Review:
I switched to almost all bamboo underwear three years ago. I’ve used a half dozen brands.
I like the softness of bamboo, and these might be softest ones I’ve bought. Good quality bamboo viscose fabric feels somewhat like silk. These have that silky feel.
Calvin Klein Men’s Bamboo Comfort Boxer Brief
- 4.7 Stars
- 9 Ratings
Calvin Klein has been one of the best men’s underwear brands for a long time now, so it’s really no surprise to find that they also have a bamboo offering.
Their “comfort” boxer briefs combine bamboo viscose with supima cotton and elastane, resulting in a high-quality fabric that combines everything you love about traditional CK underwear with (most of) the biggest benefits of bamboo underwear.
Separatec Bamboo Rayon Comfort Cool Dual Pouch Boxer Briefs
- 4.7 Stars
- 95 Ratings
Separatec made my list of the best pairs of ball hammock underwear, and for this pair they’ve combined their dual pouch, which softly cradles your boys, with the additional benefit of soft bamboo fabric.
As a result, this is the perfect choice for those who swear by the support and comfort of ball hammock underwear, but also want the lightweight feel of bamboo.
Promising Review:
I own a lot of pairs of Separatec because I love how it keeps everything in their own place, but I keep coming back to buy new pairs because it seems like they just keep getting better and better.
When I purchased these, I thought “okay, they’ll be great, I’m used to them by now,” but I’m telling you, these feel even better than my previous pairs, and that’s saying something!

Knitlord Luxury Bamboo Boxer Briefs
- 4.3 Stars
- 1,446 Ratings
Another pair of Knitlords, their boxer briefs
Promising Review:
These boxer briefs are fantastic!!! I love the way they feel. I bought them for my husband but they are so soft I want them for myself.
They are high quality and the softest material and being bamboo they breathe. I did find they ran a little smaller so next time I will purchase the next size up.
Ham&Sam Bamboo Viscose Boxer Briefs
- 4.2 Stars
- 302 Ratings
Ham & Sam’s bamboo boxer briefs come with a classic short leg that keeps the amount of excess fabric to a minimum.
So they’re a good pair of underwear for anyone who likes the style of boxer briefs, but hates how the longer ones can ride up on you and bunch under your pants.
Promising Review:
These are very soft and comfortable underwear. The size is perfect. Some people mention the legs are too short but that’s how I like them.
The material is very soft and thin. So far I love them.
– Sam
TBô Bamboo Viscose Boxer Brief
- 4.2 Stars
- 65 Ratings
TBô’s bamboo viscose boxer briefs keep it simple, which when it comes to underwear, is often a very good thing.
You can pick up a three-pack in your choice of four classic colors (black, blue, red or white) that will make you feel confident whenever you reach into the top drawer.
Plus, they have what the company calls an “anatomy care pouch” to house your boys, and a tear-off label that won’t scratch or get in the way.
Promising Review:
I always said that life itself is little more than a long search for the right underwear. And with that in mind, my life’s search is finally over.
These boxer briefs are, by far, the absolute most comfortable I have ever worn.

Boody Men’s Bamboo Boxer Briefs
- 4.7 Stars
- 209 Ratings
Boody is another brand that mixes bamboo materials with synthetic materials like spandex and nylon to offer a range of blended bamboo garments, including underwear, socks and athletic clothes.
Their boxer briefs are designed to fit any body type and feature a double layer pouch that will give your bad boys a little extra support, making this pair perfect for everyday wear.
Promising Review:
These have become my go-to jocks! Soft fabric and they don’t bunch or crease anywhere. Fully stocked up now and will keep coming back for more.
