Finding some other stores like Zara Man that offer stylish pieces at affordable prices is probably a good call, because Zara definitely has its ups and downs.
On the one hand, it has to be said: Zara has a ton of on-trend pieces that look great.
It carries both formal and casual wear in a wide range of styles that you basically can’t find anywhere else, and sells them at such low prices they’re hard to resist.
But on the other hand, when it comes to stylish clothing, you tend to get what you pay for.
While Zara’s pieces often look great, they leave a lot to be desired in terms of quality.
Hitting that sweet spot between quality pieces and reasonable prices isn’t always easy, but below I’ve rounded up more than a dozen good Zara alternatives for guys who are both style- and budget-conscious.
To help you find what you’re looking for, I’ve divided the list into three categories:
Other fast-fashion retailers that offer trendy pieces at an affordable price point; some (slightly) more expensive options for (significantly) better casual staples; and discount department stores where you can score low prices on real luxury brands.

Other Affordable Clothing Brands Similar to Zara
H&M
Arguably Zara’s closest competitor, the Sweden-based H&M has a similar reputation, known for stylish and trendy pieces that resemble runway fashion, but at significantly lower prices.
The quality of H&M’s stuff is comparable to Zara’s, which is to be expected—there’s usually a tradeoff between price and quality, and when the clothes are this affordable, the quality isn’t always the highest.
With that said, I’ve actually had pretty good luck with H&M over the years, especially with staple pieces like tees and sweatshirts.
And unlike Zara, H&M carries a line of affordable men’s gym clothes that’s (somewhat surprisingly) great.
Mango
Another close Zara competitor, Mango is a great alternative if you’re looking for of-the-moment and fashion-forward pieces at a similar price point.
It’s got a similar vibe to Zara and other fast fashion brands, but Mango’s stuff tends to have its own unique twist.
They carry everything from elevated casual wear to modern suits and offer comparable quality to Zara, but Mango’s aesthetic is a little different.
Choosing between the two depends on your personal style, but my own take is that Mango’s vibe is a little more grownup and sophisticated.
Topman
The UK-based Topman makes a great alternative to Zara because it carries modern cuts and trendy looks in pretty much every category of menswear, from casual staples like tees and denim jackets all the way up to formal wear and suiting.
And like Zara, their great pieces are accompanied by good prices.
They almost went out of business a few years ago, but fortunately the online retailer Asos swooped in and bought them (much to the relief of fashion lovers on a budget).
Asos
And speaking of Asos, the UK-based fast fashion retailer offers (a lot) more than just Topman.
It stands out from stores like Zara and Mango thanks to an increased focus on streetwear, often in the kind of bold patterns and bright colors that you don’t see as much in men’s fashion (at least in North America).
And while Zara only carries its own brand, Asos carries a pretty wide range of other brands, making it sort of a cross between a clothing brand and an online department store.
Forever 21
With its focus on a younger demographic, I’ll admit that Forever 21 might not be the first brand that comes to mind when you think of brands like Zara.
They don’t have as wide a variety of clothes – for instance, they don’t offer suiting or formal wear – but they’re a great place to turn if you’re looking for classic pieces at an affordable price point.
boohooMAN
boohooMan is the menswear arm of UK-based boohoo, which like Zara specializes in trendy, fashion-forward pieces.
They’re in the same fast fashion category as stores like Mango and Zara, but they focus more on streetwear and modern casual pieces than suiting and cheap formal wear, which you’ll find a lot of at Zara.
With that said, they’re a good place to turn for big guys because they have separate sections for plus-size and tall, which makes it easy to find the right fit.Â
Urban Outfitters
Urban Outfitters is a great pick if you’re looking for cool, modern styles, not just when it comes to fashion.
They carry everything from cool home decor to trendy clothes from a wide variety of different brands, all at an accessible price point.
But their stuff definitely leans more casual, so it’s not the best option if you’re looking for a crisp white dress shirt or other formal wear.

Better Basics:
More Expensive (& Higher Quality) Zara Alternatives
Frank and Oak
Frank and Oak offers higher quality and more sustainable clothing than Zara, making it a great place to turn if you want clothes that are good for both your style and your conscious.
On the style front, they’ve got a hip, modern aesthetic that always feels very of-the-moment, but not so fashion-forward that it’ll be out of style by next year.
And as a certified B Corp, they use both sustainable materials and sustainable practices, making it a great place to turn if you’re worried about the environmental impact of the fast fashion industry.
Banana Republic
For a long time now, Banana Republic has been one of those stores you find in most major malls in the United States, much like Zara Men.
But Banana’s stuff tends to be both higher quality and more timeless.
Zara’s supply chain is famously pretty limited, which is one reason for its success, but also means that its big-ticket items like leather jackets and suits are significantly lower in quality.
By contrast, I’ve owned both a leather jacket and a couple different suits from Banana, and have been impressed with how well they hold up.
J.Crew
This is another usual suspect at most malls, but while Zara’s stuff all has a distinclty European vibe, J.Crew is a classic American Brand that leans heavily into its all-American roots.
With a quintessentially preppy aesthetic, they played a huge role in shaping the more laid-back and relaxed fit that defined the ’90s, which has roared back into popularity today.
And unlike Zara, the great thing about J.Crew is that their stuff is built to last.
For my money they make some of the best jeans on the market, and in warmer months I swear by both their shorts and their polos.
Club Monaco
In terms of style, Club Monaco falls somewhere in between Zara and Banana Republic in my opinion.
Their aesthetic is more stylish and elevated compared to what you’d find at a store like the Gap, for instance, but it’s not as fashion-forward or trendy as some of the European-based retailers.
But in terms of quality, Club Monaco is definitely better than more affordable stores like H&M and Zara, while still offering quite reasonable prices.
Massimo Dutti
Spanish clothing brand Massimo Dutti is owned by the same parent company as Zara, and offers similar styles that are more grown up, higher quality and (as you can probably imagine), more expensive.
The menswear at Massimo Dutti isn’t quite as fashion-forward as Zara’s, but it’s still sharp and distinguished.
Think J. Crew or Banana Republic with a little more European flare, and you’re on the right track.
The Best Deals:
Discount Retailers with (Better-Made) Clothes Like Zara Man
Nordstrom Rack
Zara’s whole business model is based on replicating the pieces you see on runways from major brands like Tom Ford and Gucci, but using a faster manufacturing process and less high-quality fabrics to keep the price (way) down.
Nordstrom Rack, on the other hand, carries pieces that are legitimately made by the same high-end designers carried in the flagship Nordstrom store, but at significantly lower prices.
How? Because Nordstrom Rack is where the flagship Nordstrom sends last year’s trendy styles that didn’t sell.
If you’re the type of guy who absolutely must have the latest new arrivals, then it might not be the best option.
But for the rest of us it’s a great Zara alternative, and an excellent way to score a great price on stylish, high-quality clothing from some of the best menswear brands.
Saks Off Fifth
Saks Off Fifth is basically Saks Fifth Avenue’s answer to Nordstrom Rack, so pretty much everything I said above applies here as well.
If you sometimes find yourself scrolling through Mr. Porter and salivating at all the great styles, only to be both shocked and disheartened when you see the price tag, trying browsing the Saks Off Fifth website instead.
TJ Maxx
TJ Maxx is another discount department store where you can find low prices on lots of big-name merchandise.
Unlike the two stores above, TJ Maxx isn’t associated with a higher-end parent company, so their styles aren’t quite as fashion-forward.
But they carry plenty of pieces that are stylish, affordable and made to a pretty high standard, so it’s very much worth checking out.
